The third annual Chris & Owen Kedas Memorial Fishing Derby is being held on September 27th, 2025 in Huron, Ohio. This derby is in memory of two people whose lives were cut unexpectedly & tragically short. Chris was a beloved husband, father, & friend, and Owen was a fun, kindhearted 11 year old boy that loved baseball, fishing, & hugging his mom. Both are sorely missed. This event is hosted by the Chris & Owen Kedas Memorial Foundation with support from Fish Huron.

For this event to be successful & continue to grow, the Chris & Owen Kedas Memorial Foundation is looking for sponsors who are willing to support our mission & help us with the costs associated with the derby. As a thank you for your generosity, we will recognize businesses, organizations, & individuals in the following way:

 

Sponsorships Levels:

PLATINUM - $500 and up includes business or name announced during the derby, logo on an individual flag, logo on t-shirt, & logo on group banner.

GOLD - $300 includes logo on individual flag, name on t-shirt, & logo on group banner.

 

SILVER - $200 includes name on t-shirt & name on group banner.

 

BRONZE - $100 includes name on the group banner.

The mission of the Chris & Owen Kedas Memorial Foundation is to give back to a community that stepped up when unimaginable tragedy struck the Kedas Family. Through donations & fundraising, the goal is to provide scholarships, create social spaces that are safe for people to grieve the loss of loved ones, provide immediate assistance to those in need of some hope, & to host events that will bring the community together in memory of Chris & Owen Kedas.

The purpose of the Chris & Owen Kedas Memorial Fishing Derby is to raise funds through donations & sponsorships that will help provide scholarships, assist those navigating their own tragedies with immediate support, & contribute to other community enrichment by hosting a fun & competitive event in memory of Chris & Owen Kedas.

This past year, the Chris & Owen Kedas Memorial Foundation provided two scholarships (one to a Huron H.S. baseball senior and one to a Huron H.S. softball senior), has created a successful social group for bereaved parents, provided care packages for grieving children, financially assisted local families in need of some hope, & has created or participated in other outreach events within the community; HOPE Lights the Night, Trunk-or-Treat, Camp Good Grief, & sponsored art sessions for bereaved children at a local art studio. Our foundation was also involved in bringing awareness to carbon monoxide poisoning while boating during April's Motorboat Safety Awareness Month & provided 10 free portable CO detectors through the foundation's Facebook campaign.
